Zach and I are writing together again…but it’s a different ball game now. For years, Zach played on my songs while his inner blues-rocker was shelved. I mean, when a blues and blues-rock guy meets a pop and folk girl, and both are writers-composers, it is bound to be a clash of interest, and it was, except that I had already been performing in coffeehouses for some time, and it made the most sense for him to join in. Over time, his influence had worked on me, but we’d fallen into a pattern that was not mutually fulfilling, and by the time it petered to a standstill, frankly, he just wasn’t that interested in making music the way we had before. After almost splitting musical ties (not marriage ones!), we began thinking scenarios again. It’s a new ballgame for us as we continue to write songs that are fulfilling to both of us and reflect the slice of life we share together. For now, here is a little ditty just to show you what I mean. Literally. A ditty.
